Luxury bell tent hire ... for every event
Covering Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and West Sussex
Beautiful Bells is a family owned bell tent hire service. Ethically run by Katrina and Steve, Beautiful Bells have been hiring their fabulous bells tents across the southern region since 2014.
As camping enthusiasts all their adult lives, they and their now grown-and-flown family, have camped in trailer tents and enjoyed many camping holidays under canvas. They have also attended countless music festivals in their beloved VW camper.
Back in 2013 Katrina bought her first bell tent. To cut a long story short, Katrina has magpie tendencies when it comes to atmospheric lighting. So when she found a tea light chandelier on eBay, she needed a tent to hang it in.
Steve saw this as a completely unnecessary purchase. But undeterred, and with the excuse of being fed up of banging her head in the camper van (and months of research), she bought her first bell tent.
In reality Katrina and Steve had been glamping for years without realising it. The term used then was ‘show and shine’ – whenever the camper van got an upgrade (or a new set of fairy lights!).
As business start-ups go it wasn’t entirely conventional. In fact, the start of the Beautiful Bells glamping hire service was almost accidental. One bell tent grew to five, and Katrina started to research the ‘glamping’ phenomenon. Early in 2014 the Beautiful Bells tent hire service was born.
In the summer of 2014, what had been intended as a ‘small hobby business’ hiring five bell tents expanded to a ten-tent hire service. It was a hobby business no more.
In 2015, Katrina left her job in the corporate world to manage Beautiful Bells full-time.
Beautiful Bells now boasts 60 bell tents for hire. Despite the growth of Beautiful Bells, Katrina still takes a hands-on approach to their bell tent hire service, and customer enquiries take priority. Since giving up her corporate career, Katrina and Steve are 100% bell tent focused.
They bring their many years’ experience of the outdoors to give you the best possible glamping experience.
Both Katrina and Steve are fierce believers in ‘leave no trace’. When the Bells team leave a site the only remaining evidence should be some flat grass.
All rubbish is removed and recycled where possible. Tent pegs are counted in and out to ensure none are left behind. And when the stock has reached the end of it’s hire life, it’s put to good use. At the end of the 2016 season, Beautiful Bells donated nearly 50 duvet packs to a local homeless shelter.
2017 has seen one of the biggest changes to the business to date. George, Katrina’s sister has joined the team to work in the office.
George was the logical choice to join the team. She’s been running her own business since her children arrived a few years ago. But more to the point, she’s been there on the sidelines since the start. She knows the business and how much the Beautiful Bells team put into a summer season – physically, emotionally and mentally.
Head over to the ‘meet the team’ page for some pictures of the Bells team you’re likely to meet on site during the season.

“Without this sounding like some cheesy website text, this has genuinely been one of the toughest business choices I’ve had to make. After three seasons of getting up at 4am (yes 4am!) to deal with all the enquiries it was clear we needed an extra pair of hands.
We believe passionately in customer service, and that would suffer if I continued to juggle the Beautiful Bells’ admin with being out on the road. So I had to make the choice between being on-site, or in the office full-time. When clients speak to you regularly on the phone for months in advance about their event, it is important either Steve or I are there on the day to meet them in person.
Of course, at peak times we have to split the team and I can’t be in two places at once. But when you book your bell tent hire with Beautiful Bells, you’ll always find one of us there heading things up.
Of course, being on-site gives me a chance to meet the people I’ve spent so long talking to. It’s like meeting old friends! Nothing beats the look on someone’s face when you show them their bell tents all finished and set up for them to enjoy!
Perhaps the best bit of the job is looking back at the pop-up bell tent villages we’ve created. I regularly say to the rest of team, ‘Look what we made!’ Strangely none of us like take down day. It always feels a bit sad dismantling the bell tents where our clients have had so much fun.”
“Business people often talk about their USPs (unique selling points). Whilst there’s lots of other bell tent hire companies, few can rival the Beautiful Bells’ attention to detail. We’ve seen some shockingly baggy canvas, creased bunting, and a complete oversight of the little things that make your special occasion really special.
Many of our bell tent hire bookings come through recommendation. The venue managers, previous clients and other suppliers know we’re going to arrive on the day and do a good job. And we don’t leave the site until things are right. We’re also on the phone at 9pm at night if you need us. And that’s what Beautiful Bells is all about.”
